Dowd is a non-fiction television producer with over 20 years of producing and directing experience. She has produced programming for Lifetime TV, History Channel, and PBS among others. Most recently, Dowd was senior producer of "Robotics Competition: 2008" (working title) a two hour film that follows a diverse group of high school students from all over the country as they design build and operate robots in tournaments.
Dowd was producer of "I Married A Princess" a 13 episode reality series for Lifetime Television. The series, developed by New Wave Entertainment, combined royalty, Hollywood hustle, and everyday blended family in high-flying Malibu California. She was a producer for the two-hour History Channel special "Lindbergh Flies Again" following every step of Erik Lindbergh's mission to retrace his grandfather's journey to cross the Atlantic.
Dowd served as Director of Communication for the Ansari X PRIZE. She supervised the public relations account resulting in 50 million media impressions in two years. She developed and implemented national educational project for middle school students called the "Eggs Prize," and developed and coordinated public lectures and presentations at National Science Teachers Association, National Education Leadership Association, St. Louis Science Center, and many others.
Dowd began her career as a segment producer for WXYZ, Detroit, MI. During her time there, she researched, wrote, and produced a daily historical feature "Years Ago Today," for Good Afternoon Detroit. She holds a B.A. in film and Video from the University of Michigan. |
